UNB 6, StFX 2

UNB finished the weekend by beating StFX 6-2. With under a minute to go, the two teams got into a healthy skirmish on the ice that might make things interesting next Saturday when they play at the Aitken Centre.

The 2 points are pretty huge as Saint Mary's also won their game leaving them 5 points back with 4 games remaining. It's safe to say that next weekend's rematches vs SMU and StFX are going to be intense. It almost feels like playoff hockey already...

Travis Fullerton got the win, but had his shutout streak broken late in the 2nd period. It'll be interesting to see what the official word is as far as possible records are concerned. You have to go back to the 2nd period of the 8-2 win over Dalhousie to find the last goal he let in before tonight. In terms of complete periods, he had the 3rd vs. Dal, shutout vs STU, the 2nd and 3rd periods vs UPEI, a shutout vs Acadia, another shutout vs STU, and the 1st period vs StFX...13 consecutive periods + of shutout hockey. Think he's earned a shot to start vs SMU on Friday?

I think there's no doubt that you'll see Fullerton in net on Friday vs. SMU... and rightfully so. Both Yeomans and Fullerton are obviously quality goalies but Fullerton has the hot hand right now. I'd hate to see Yeomans cold going into the playoffs though.

Could anyone watch the web feed from StFX broadcasting last night's game? For me, the feed was terrible... wouldn't even connect for the most part and when it did, the video sucked big time.

The web feeds for both weekend games weren't great, but I only had a few cut outs last night. The quality wasn't as good but at least last night's was free.
