UNB Falls To Portland By 4-2 Score

UNB took on the AHL's Portland Pirates and if you followed the Twitter updates, it appears they held their own.  Not only did they out-shoot their opponents 36-22, but twice they battled back to tie the game.

Scoring for UNB were Hunter Tremblay and Daine Todd.  A few AHL teams are likely to lose by worse margins to the Pirates this year so let's chalk this one up as a moral victory and valuable experience for the V-Reds.

Here's a recap from Portland's official site.

In other news, former V-Red Rob Hennigar was assigned to Florida of the ECHL.  You might recall he was traded to Albany of the AHL this summer.  Last season he put up points at a quicker pace than anyone in the ECHL during his stay and was called back up to Bridgeport for his efforts.  Hopefully he can build on that and work his way back up to Albany this year.

Thursday's edition of the Daily Gleaner talks a bit more about the game. V-Reds give Pirates solid test

I reviewed the twit log and looks like the team played well. Might have gone either way.

The Too Many Men calls are a sign of pre-season with the lines being mixed each night.

The last goal might have been Empty Net with only 1:31 left.

Looks good when you can outshot an AHL team and stay with them for the most part to the end.
