UNB Faces Providence College Tonight

The V-Reds play their final game of the pre-season this evening when they take on the NCAA's Providence College Friars.  According to the official Providence College Friars website, UNB and Providence played only one time on neutral ice back in 1983 in Halifax with the game going to Providence.

Providence was the school of former NHL playoff sensation, Fernando Pisani of the Edmonton Oilers, as well as ex-Leafs defenceman turned Stanley Cup Champion, Hall Gill.

Remember, you can follow the game in a number of ways.  CHSR 97.9 FM will be broadcasting the game live from Providence, R.I., while UNBHockey on Twitter will provide live updates during the game.  The Friars appear to have added a few options as well, including a game tracker and audio feed. Game time is 8 pm.

I have a bad feeling about this game...after the big weekend last weekend and having to travel all the way down to Rhode Island to play one game against one of the weaker HE teams...it wouldn't surprise me to see UNB have a bit of a let down...hope I'm proven wrong though.

I think that regardless of tonight's outcome the team has had a great pre-season and should be well prepared to begin defense of their National Championship against UPEI next Friday night at the AUC. IMO, though, I think they'll will tonight as well. GO VREDS!
