V-Reds Pull Off Big Win Over UMass

The V-Reds jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 3-2 victory over the UMass Minutemen.

John Scott Dickson put UNB on the scoresheet early in the first period and then would add another before the period was over.  Rookie Taylor Procyshen scored his first goal in a V-Reds uniform late in the first.  The V-Reds would lead 3-0 after one.

No scoring by either side in the 2nd period.  Those of you who followed the Twitter feed know that UNB ran into some penalty trouble and were outshot heavily, but goaltender Travis Fullerton preserved the lead.

UMass would finally get on the board early in the third period to put the score at 3-1.  With just over a minute remaining and the teams skating 4-on-4, the Minuteman would add another, but that's as close as they'd get.  Procyshen's first would prove to be the winner.  Final score was 3-2 for the V-Reds.

UNB is back at it tomorrow at 5 PM vs Vermont.  The game will be available from UNBHockey on Twitter, or on Radio, Video ($7 USD) or Game Tracker (hopefully) from UVM Athletics.

Great game for the VReds and for Fullerton. UNB may have very well been outshot for the first time this pre-season. Let's hope that Yeoman's can carry over the momentum into tomorrow.
