CIS Top 10 Rankings - Not Much Movement

The last CIS Top 10 of 2009 was released today. Not much change at the top as UNB, Alberta, Western and Acadia hold top 4 spots respectively.  McGill managed to leapfrog UQTR after UQTR was upset by Carleton.

SMU (win vs. StFX, loss vs. UNB) and Laurier move up after Lakehead dropped a pair of exhibtion games to unranked Saskatchewan. SMU appears to have won the tie-breaker and holds #8 going into the break.

Here are the complete rankings:

1. UNB (15-0-0) / 180 (18) / (1)

I'm still surprised that McGill and UQTR are as high as they are. Their loses were against poor teams where 2 of 3 loses for Acadia and SMU have come against UNB. The points they get indicats the poolers can't decided 5-7 and 8-10.

(Laurier - has two loses to #2 Western, one vs #10 LKD and #5 UQTR. They should be higher vs UQTR & McGill who lost to 'C' class teams)

(LKD - a loss to WL, two losses to Waterloo #4 in OUA-West. They are being penalized way to hard for the loss to RMC and USK. The USK games were exhibition with lots of guys missing and shouldn't really carry any weight).

my choices

5. MAN (+2)
6. WL (+3)
7. McG (-2)
8. LKD (+2)
9. SMU (-1)
10. UQTR (-4)

Time will tell.
