Acadia@UNB, Sat. Jan.30 7pm

Tonight, the CIS #1 ranked UNB V-Reds (22-0-0) are at home to face the CIS #4 ranked Acadia Axemen (15-5-2) at Aitken University Center in front of a capacity crowd. I hope you have your tickets, cause there are none left!

Last night, the V-Reds took down the CIS #7 ranked St. Mary's Huskies 3-1 on goals by John Scott Dickson, Lachlan MacIntosh, and Hunter Tremblay, who scored shorthanded yet again. With that win, and Acadia's loss, UNB has now guaranteed they will finish first overall for the regular season.

Last night was not so kind for the Axemen, who fell 5-3 to the UPEI Panthers (9-11-2). Acadia was down by a score of 5-0, before battling back to make it 5-3, but still not being able to get the win. Tonight they will be looking to get back on the right track, as they are still battling with SMU for the #2 spot in the AUS, and a first round bye.

The game will be available on Rogers TV, News-Cast.com, and can be following on UNB Hockey on Twitter.

Haven't they already clinched first overall? They are 12 points up on Acadia with six games left...and have clinched the season series against them, or is that not the tiebreaker?

Yes, they have clinched first place with Acadia losing last night (which none of us expected ...). The tie-breaker is head-to-heads, and UNB of course as won all three against Acadia so far.
