The AUS playoffs begin exactly one month from today. UNB became the first team in CIS hockey to clinch a playoff birth with their win last night at Acadia. The V-Reds are currently 11 points ahead of Acadia, but the Axemen have a game in hand. Technically, SMU, Acadia, and STFX could overtake UNB in the standings, but if UNB wins 5 of their remaining 9 games (or some combination of other teams losing), they will clinch 1st place in the AUS and secure home-ice advantage for the AUS playoffs. The semi-finals and finals are best-of-five rounds this year.

Fingers crossed they can hold onto that top spot through the rest of the regular season
