Never realized Western went undefeated in both 2001/02 and 2002/03...a 46-0-2 regular season run...pretty impressive
What they don't mention is that only two of those teams went on to win Nationals...
Of the Western/Alb recordes, only two went onto Nationals and only one won gold.
Western won gold in 01/02 (3OT), lost in their first round of the playoffs (OUA-West Semi) in 02/03. Alberta won CW in 03/04, but lost game two at Nationals to UNB and lose Bronze to Dal.
The Western lose in 02/03 to Lakehead was a surprise.
