V-Reds Release Non-Conference Schedule

The official UNB Varsity Reds released the complete non-conference schedule today.  No real surprises, but the road trip out West has been clarified.  UNB is visiting Calgary on September 15th, then off to Edmonton to play the Golden Bears on September 17th before returning to Calgary for the third and final game of the western road trip on the 18th.

UNB returns to the Aitken Centre to host the annual Fall Classic against the defending CIS champion SMU Huskies, and OUA vistors, Guelph Gryphons.  AUS rival UPEI Panthers will be the 4th team at the tournament.

From there the V-Reds will travel south to some stiff NCAA competition with games against UMass Amherst on October 2nd, and Vermont on October 3rd.

After Christmas, McGill will be visitng the AUC on December 30th, but the big news remains the Providence College series in January.

All told there will be 11 exhibition games, five of which will be played at home this season.

I wonder if, and when, the UNB-STU Presidents Cup game will be played? The weekend of the 9/10 is still open. Not sure what STU is doing that weekend.

Also - for those thinking of traveling to UMass, the game is 3:00pm local (4:00pm AST).

Pretty cool to see games again UoA and SMU upfront and McGill at Christmas. Certainly got some good 'test' games to start the season.

CHSR-FM will not be covering the games in Alberta. Not sure if either the Bears or Dinos will be doing the games on the web.
