Big Weekend Ahead For V-Reds

In Thursday's edition of The Daily Gleaner, Bruce Hallihan gets a few words with captain Kyle Bailey about the upcoming weekend and even a few thoughts on last season's disappointing playoff performance.  As AUS regular season weekends go, this is about as good as you could expect on home ice - the reigning national champions, and the team that ended your season are both visiting in back-to-back nights, so make sure you get your tickets and come out to the games.  It just so happens both teams are immediately behind UNB in the standings in what's shaping up to be a typical tight race in the AUS.

I think a lot of people will see this as the first real test for UNB this year. Preseason results, and games against weaker teams have not convinced some people as to whether or not UNB can "play with the big boys" after the injury losses this year.

The other side of this argument is that I hope the boys don't put their whole season into this weekend's games. There is a lot of hockey left, and win or lose this weekend, UNB needs to stay focused on the ultimate goals of preparing for and winning Nationals.
