Dates of Games 2 to 4 Revealed...We Think...Maybe

If one is to believe the AUS website, the AUS Finals are going to be a best-of-5, with game 2 taking place Saturday night at the Aitken Centre.  Game 1 was already confirmed for this Friday at 8PM.  Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) shift to Antigonish on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 15-16).  The date of game 5 has not been released yet.

So, unless things change between now and when the puck drops tomorrow night, we should expect a pretty good weekend of hockey here in Fredericton.

Not gonna feed Anon the Troll this time.

According to the e-mail I got from Dave Morell last night, it is a best-of-five.

Hopefully the 'discriminating' fans in Fredericton come out for this one, it is the AUS Championship after all. Over 4000 at the Forum on Tuesday night ...

Kind of annoyed that this has to take place during the 'spring' break at UNB. Means that those students who went home for the break to visit family have to watch this online or follow the twitter feed(which I am very grateful for!!)

Really bummed, I only missed one season and one playoff game this year.
CIS will make up for it I guess though :)

Also wish they had of announced the schedule earlier so I could have made plans to come back for this weekend.

No wonder crowds are low in playoffs. Went to pick up tickets for the Friday and Saturday games. The box office reply was we can sell you the Friday tickets but not Saturday because it hasn't been decided if there will be a Saturday game. If they want good crowds they have to make some decisions so fans can buy tickets in advance. Doubt that many will want to stand around in the rain Saturday to buy tickets.

I thought this was resolved, but apparently there is still some back and forth between the teams and the AUS about whether to reduce the best-of-five to a best-of-three series.

So Friday is a go for sure. Saturday of course is dependent on whether they shorten the series.

Kinda leaving it late.

Didn't the "decision makers" think about this in advance? Why the hesitation? There has to be a series final - the number of games to be played should have been decided before the season ever started. I'm not sure I'd trust these guys with organizing a 5 year old's birthday party.
If the line is too long tomorrow night, I'll probably not bother to stand in line Saturday. We know both teams will be in the final and if they don't care enough to decide when and where the games will be played, why should we care to watch?
Hey guys, show some respect for the fans and we'll show respect for you.

Well said. If they can't decide when and how many games they are going to play until the evev of the series the crying about small crowds will fall on deaf ears.

A few years ago there was an agreement, which was apparently one time, that if the AUS was hosting the University Cup, and the host advanced to AUS finals, then they would play best-of-three instead of the planned best-of-five. I've forgotten what year that was right now.

So it sounds like the AUS wants to stick with the scheduled best-of-five, and one or both of the teams wants to shorten it. What worsens the situation is that X only finished their series Tuesday night.

I agree, you would think that everyone would go by the schedule, but the AUS has had a history of allowing teams to works out things themselves.

Just this year the AUS allowed both StFX and Acadia to push the first game of the first playoff round from Wednesday, as scheduled, to Thursday and Friday respectively. So it wouldn't be the first time they allowed a change.

If it does go 5 games - it has to end by Saturday March 19th.

CIS MEN'S HOCKEY Regulations
3.6 TEAM ENTRIES
All Sport Conference championships shall be completed the Saturday prior to the start of the CIS Championship.

to be or not to be said...

is it or is it not? who in the heck are these guys making the decision anyway? the conference has said a best of five, the teams cried for years for a best of five final, and now they're waffling about playing three or five. if they draw 500 fans for saturday because of all this crap, then looks good on them. these guys couldn't arrange a birthday party, but they could be the clowns

Is there any way you can I.P ban someone, I know I have a blog and we are able to trace I.P addresses, I think it would be wise to block this anonymous user who complains about jr hockey and is trying to ruin the fun for others, if your going to bitch go some were else to do it because I think everyone here would rather see a UNB-ST.FX (SMU,ACADIA,etc) then go see a "Q" game were there is basically one or two guys on each team... You and your great 8-0 game could leave it would be much appreciated :)

GO REDS!!
