V-Reds visit the Axemen, TONIGHT!

The UNB V-Reds (23-5-0 / 2-0) visit the Acadia Axemen (14-11-3 / 2-1-1) tonight at 7pm at the Acadia Arena. The V-Reds hold a commanding 2-0 lead in the best of five series and will look to close it out tonight.

Sunday night's meeting was a marathon event, lasting 121 minutes, 53 seconds and set a new record as the longest V-Reds game ever. Nick MacNeil's quick shot beat the blocker of Acadia goaltender Kristofer Westblom to claim the victory.

The Axemen, now have a massive hill to climb, they must beat the V-Reds three games in a row to reach the AUS finals. Kristopher Westlblom stopped an amazing 75 shots on Sunday night, and was the reason the game lasted so long. Scott Tregunna leads the Axemen with two goals this post season, with Philippe Bertrand adding two assists.

Travis Fullerton was once again amazing between the pipes, stopping 37 shots in the two games worth of minutes on one night, some of them game saving stops. While Nick MacNeil was the game hero, the work of Chris Culligan made the goal possible. Hunter Tremblay added two more assists on the night, and now has 220 career points for the V-Reds.

The game can be seen as a webcast on the SSN network, listened to on CHSR radio, and followed on UNBHockey on Twitter.

Tonight during one of the intermissions on CHSR we'll play an interview I taped with Darryl Boyce on Tuesday.
