Tremblay and DaCosta Play First AHL Games

The buzz around town all week was that Hunter Tremblay was expected to suit up with the Oklahoma City Barons for his first AHL game Friday night.  Nobody knew his former teammate Justin DaCosta would be doing the same for the Lake Erie Monsters.

DaCosta played 3 years at UNB and showed his offensive prowess from the blueline by putting up 53 points in 77 games.  He is probably most remembered for his patented shoot-out move which seemed to work every single time.

Congratulations to both Varsity Reds alumni on making their AHL debuts.

Dacosta is on the roster for fridays game but not saturdays game....His name is even in italics which means he was on the starting lineup and was a -2 for the night.

Da Costa's callup was going to be quick -- Allen doesn't start next round of CHL playoffs until April 14. He played Friday, wasn't in Saturday. Wore number 12 Friday.

Tremblay most likely won't be suiting up in the playoffs unless the Barons have someone else they feel they need to sit out. Omark, O'Marra, Vandevelde, and Hartikainen for forwards and Petry on D have been assigned by the Oilers to the Barons. Hopefully I'm wrong and Tremblay gets a game or two.

And wearing his CIS champions hat too!

A bit off topic but SSN has now archived all 3 UNB games from this year's CIS Nationals. What more can you say about Kidd's goal against Calgary... awesome.
