Tyler Carroll Named Male Athlete of the Week

Varsity Reds rookie forward Tyler Carroll has been named the UNB/Valley Graphics male Athlete of the Week for his contributions in a pair of crucial wins this past weekend.

On Friday night against the first place Acadia Axemen the native of Strathroy, Ontario - and four year veteran of the OHL's Guelph Storm - assisted on the game's first goal and later scored to help the V-Reds to a convincing 7-1 victory.

On Saturday night Carroll set up the game's first goal, scored early in third period to give UNB a brief 2-1 lead, and then was the hero in overtime when he potted the game winner. The win moved the Varsity Reds into sole possession of first place.

For the season Carroll sits second on the team with 11 goals and has added 8 assists in 22 games. He has also excelled on the PK and his 3 shorthanded goals place him 3rd in the AUS.

This is the second time Carroll has been recognized as UNB's male Athlete of the Week this season, also garnering the honours in mid-October.

Congratulations Tyler!
