ALUMNI UPDATE: Boyce Sees Time With Leafs

Former University of New Brunswick Varsity Red Darryl Boyce suited up for Toronto in their 5-0 loss to Montreal last night. It was his 12th game with the big club this season and his first since the middle of January, registering 1 goal and 1 assist so far.

Before the game former Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin was honoured and had his number 13 retired. Boyce is the last remaining member of the organization to have played with him. In just over 10 minutes of playing time the Summerside, PEI native had 2 shots on goal, 3 hits, won his lone face-off, and was a -2.

Boyce played two season with the V-Reds. He won the AUS Rookie of the Year after collecting 15 goals and 17 assists in 2005-06. The following year he played an important role in helping UNB win its second National Championship, putting up 14 goals and 19 assists. He was also a member of Team Canada that won a gold medal at the 2007 Winter Universiade.
