Culligan Named Male Athlete Of The Week

Varsity Reds 3rd year forward Chris Culligan has been named the UNB/Valley Graphics male Athlete of the Week. The native of Howie Center, Nova Scotia had a big weekend as the V-Reds took a two game lead in their best-of-5 semi-final against the UPEI Panthers. On Friday night Culligan had two assists before scoring the game winning goal late in the third period as UNB rallied from a two goal deficit to defeat the Panthers 4-3. He had another strong game on Saturday night, collecting three assists in a 5-1 UNB victory. He also won 64% of his face-offs between the two games.

Culligan, a former Cape Breton Screaming Eagle, has been one of UNB's best all-around players since joining the team prior to the 2009/10 season, putting up point totals of 32 (28 games), 38 (27 games), and 30 (24 games) in his three seasons, while being one of the league's best penalty killers and face-off men.

Congratulations Chris!
