Nationals Notebook: MacLean To Speak At Gala

Former UNB head coach and NHL coach Doug MacLean has been announced as the guest speaker for the 2012 Cavendish University Cup Awards Gala. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 21 at the Playhouse in downtown Fredericton.

MacLean served as head coach at UNB for the 1985-86 season and guided the team to a 9-15-0 record. He would join the St. Louis Blues staff the following year and would go on to spend time with Washington and Detroit. He received his first head coaching job in 1995 with the Florida Panthers and led the team to their first, and thus far only, trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in his first season behind the bench. He later served as head coach, general manager, and president of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Today he is a television and radio personality for Rogers Sportsnet and the Fan 590.
