Harty, Carroll Honoured

The University of New Brunswick held their annual "Celebration of Excellence" this past week to honour Varsity Reds athletes, and two members of the men's hockey team took home prestigious awards.

Tyler Carroll was named the UNB male rookie of the year after a season in which the Strathroy, Ontario native potted 15 goals and added 11 assists in 27 regular season games before collecting 3 more points in 5 playoff games. His 15 goals were tied for the most among all AUS first year players and while his 26 points ranked 3rd among rookies in the conference.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Harty was awarded the male athlete of the year. Harty, who is now playing for Kalamazoo in the ECHL, finished the season 2nd in the AUS in defencemen scoring with 27 points in 26 conference games. He added 6 points in 6 postseason games and another goal and assist at Nationals. He was also an AUS first team all-star, a CIS second team all-star, and a member of the University Cup all-tournament team.
