More On Critchlow

Here is more information regarding former V-Reds Prospect and newest recruit Cameron Critchlow:

"Critchlow returns to V-Reds roots" by Bruce Hallihan for The Daily Gleaner
Critchlow on coming back to UNB - "Obviously, UNB has the reputation and history in recent years of being a very successful team and a great program as well. The hockey program is A-1 and so is the academic part...I know Gardiner is an excellent coach and they'll have a very competitive team. I was recruited by a lot of schools, but the main thing that attracted me to UNB is the battle level of each player. each player wants to get better every day, so I can't wait to surround myself with people who have the same goals as me - looking to get to the next level...You play the game to win. The mind-set of the team and the coaches is to win every game in front of us. They're not only looking for an Atlantic championship but a Canadian championship is always in their sights every year."
Head coach Gardiner MacDougall on Critchlow - "Cameron was a good, solid player but he grew his game this year in Halifax. He had a great impact on the growth and development of their team, on and off the ice. People down there just rave about his leadership qualities...You want to try to find the best players you can, but it's important to find the best people. He's certainly both. He's a tremendous ambassador. He's been a leader and he's a great role model in the community. he's recognized as a person who likes to give back...He's one of the most popular players in Halifax - in just one year there"
Critchlow - "I remember being called a hard worker when I was a young player. I don't know how else to play. It was the way I was brought up. I never give an inch to anyone else."
"Critchlow chooses UNB for next step in hockey career" by Matthew Wuest for Metro Halifax
Critchlow on trying to crack the V-Reds roster - "There’s one thing I’ve learned throughout my junior career — I don’t want to say I’ve been underestimated or undervalued, but I’ve gone into (challenging situations) and emerged on top. It’s just another challenge in that regard and I’m looking forward to competing to be a key player on that team."
MacDougall on Critchlow - "He is an excellent fit here at UNB and we expect him to be a special player (who will) make a significant difference in our program"
"Critchlow keeps options open" by Willy Pavlov for The Chronicle Herald
Critchlow on choosing UNB - "I had a lot of options from a lot of great schools. The whole AUS is excellent for men’s hockey and I’ve known a lot about UNB’s program for a couple of years now. They obviously have a very competitive team and they contend every year. That’s something I wanted to be a part of. I want to win. I thought for my own personal development, that’s what would take me the farthest and challenge me the most. I’m looking forward to it."
MacDougall - "He is a key addition to our line-up as he has proven he can play well with good players and in a number of important roles and in key situations. He has proven himself as an accomplished leader, plays gritty and hard on pucks and has shown continuous improvement because of his work ethic and attitude."
"UNB V-Reds recruit Mooseheads' Critchlow" from www.hockeyscene.com
"Critchlow set career QMJHL highs with the Mooseheads this year, scoring 21 goals and 29 assists for 50 points during 68 regular season games. But his finest moments came in this year’s playoffs when he scored 12 goals and added seven assists for 19 points in 16 games to help the Mooseheads advance to the league semifinals. Most memorable was his four-goal performance in a 5-4 overtime win over the Quebec Remparts in game seven of their second-round series."
