ALUMNI UPDATE: Bailey Signs With Austrian Club

According to the blog Taking Note and Eliteprospects.com former Varsity Reds captain Kyle Bailey has signed a one year contract with the Alba Volan Szekesfehervar, who are based in Hungary but play in the Austrian Erste Bank Hockey League. The team has captured the last ten Hungarian Championships. There is also an article on the team's official page about the signing, although it is not in English.

Bailey, a former 4th round pick of the Minnesota Wild in 2005, finished his 5th season at UNB (and 3rd as team captain) earlier this year, posting a career high 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 27 regular season games. He added 8 more points (5 goals, 3 assists) in 6 playoff contests. He also won the prestigious Dr. Randy Gregg Award as the CIS player who best combined leadership, academics, and community service. He finished his UNB career as the program's 3rd leading scorer.

Following the end of the V-Reds season the 2-time University Cup champion signed an ATO with the Rochester Americans of the AHL. He appeared in 5 games without registering a point.
