Clendenning Signs ECHL Contract

According to the Daily Gleaner, via www.hockeyscene.com, Varsity Reds forward Jordan Clendenning has signed a contract with the ECHL's San Francisco Bulls, an expansion franchise who will be affiliated with the San Jose Sharks.

There had been some talk earlier in the off-season that Clendenning, an assistant captain with the V-Reds last year, would be returning to UNB for his 5th and final year of eligibility. However, he will instead play alongside fellow New Brunswickers Justin Bowers (former STU Tommie) and Dean Ouellet (Moncton Aigles Bleus) for the Bulls.

Clendenning came to UNB in the fall of 2008 after a successful 5 year career in the QMJHL with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, during which time he posted 231 points (89 goals, 142 assists) in 323 regular season games and 32 points (15 goals, 17 assists) in 40 playoff games. He battled injuries during his time at UNB but managed to put up 42 points (23 goals, 19 assists) in 86 regular season games and added 9 points (5 goals, 4 assists) in 24 playoff games. He also helped lead the V-Reds to National Championships in both 2009 and 2011.

Clendenning, a native of Fredericton, will perhaps be best remembered for scoring the series clinching goal in overtime against UPEI this past season, as well as setting up Kyle Bailey for the AUS Championship winning goal in overtime against St. FX in 2011.

We wish Jordan all the best in the next step in his hockey career.
