V-Reds Meet Stingers This Afternoon

After defeating the defending champion McGill Redmen 7-2 last night the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds are back in action this afternoon with a game against the Concordia Stingers. Game time is 3PM AST.

The V-Reds, who are now riding a three game winning streak, have never faced Concordia. The Stingers have played a pair of exhibition games thus far, both at the East-West tournament held by Western last weekend. They dropped both games, losing to the host Mustangs 4-3 and the Waterloo Warriors 6-5.

The Stingers have been slowly improving the last few seasons as they have gone from an 8-16-4 record in 2009-2010 to 12-14-2 to 13-13-2 last season. They have featured a potent offense during each of those years, scoring the 8th most goals in the country two seasons ago and the 5th most last year. However, they struggle at keeping the puck out of the net, as evidenced by giving up the 5th most, 2nd most, and 3rd most goals in the country over the last three years. So at the very least the game should be entertaining and feature plenty of offence.

As of right now the game is not listed on the OUA website so it is unknown whether the game can be followed via LeagueStat. The Stingers seem to have a fairly active Twitter account with lots of updates so that may also be an option.
