UNB Picks Up 2nd Consecutive Win Over Russia

UPDATE: The UNB Athletics website has posted their game recap.

The University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds picked up their 2nd win against the Russian Red Stars in as many days with a 5-2 victory this afternoon in front of a sold-out crowd at the AUC. With the win the V-Reds retain the Peterbilt Atlantic Kelly Cup.

The V-Reds scored the game's first 5 goals with Matt Fillier, Tyler Carroll, Stefan Salituro, Bryce Swan, and Carroll again all finding the back of the net. Miks Lipsberg and Danil Bogdanov replied with 3rd period markers for the visitors. Shots favoured UNB 33-24

- Dan LaCosta picked up the win in goal.

- The announced attendance was 3450.

- Carroll and Lipsberg were named the players of the game.

- UNB remains the only team to win the Peterbilt Atlantic Kelly Cup Challenge in the 8 years the annual holiday tournament has been held.

- Dion Campbell was named the tournament MVP. Nick MacNeil, Ben Shutron, and Dan LaCosta joined Campbell on the Tournament All-Star Team.

- UNB is back in action this Friday night at the AUC when regular season play resumes with a game against the first place Acadia Axemen. It is the fourth, and final, regular season match-up between the two teams.
