UNB To Wear Team Canada Jerseys, Campbell To Return

UPDATE: According to @VarsityReds on Twitter the UNB/Team Russia game at the AUC on December 31st is now sold out.

The University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds have announced that they will sport commemorative Team Canada jerseys during their two game exhibition series against Team Russia later this month.

In an effort to pay homage to the 1972 Summit Series team the back of each jersey will not only feature the name of the UNB player wearing it, but also the number and name of a member of that 1972 team.

Tickets are still available for both games - December 30th in Saint John and December 31st in Fredreicton - although it has been reported that there are fewer than 70 tickets remaining for the game at the AUC.

Also, in today's Daily Gleaner Bill Hunt has confirmed that forward Dion Campbell will be rejoining the Varsity Reds for the second half of the season. After focusing on academics for the first semester the 5th year veteran from Melville, Saskatchewan is expected to be back in the line-up against Team Russia. Campbell has posted 22 goals and 28 assists in 96 regular season games during his first four years with the V-Reds and will be a welcome addition for the stretch run.
