Carroll Named AUS/CIS Athlete Of The Week

University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds forward Tyler Carroll has been named both the AUS and CIS male Athlete of the Week after helping the V-Reds win their 5th University Cup title in school history last weekend in Saskatoon.

The 2nd year native of Strathroy, Ontario played a key role in all three of UNB's victories at the tournament. On Thursday night Carroll scored what proved to be the game winning goal as the Varsity Reds began the tournament with a 3-1 win over the host Saskatchewan Huskies. Two nights later against the UQTR Patriotes he added a pair of goals, including the game-tying goal in the first period that helped propel UNB to an eventual 8-3 victory. In Sunday's championship game against Saint Mary's he netted his tournament-leading 4th goal into an empty net, clinching the Varsity Reds 4th title in 7 years. For his efforts Carroll received the Major W.J. 'Danny' McLeod Award as University Cup MVP as well as being named to the all-tournament team.

Congratulations Tyler!
