UNB/UQTR History

When the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds square off with the UQTR Patriotes this evening in the semi-finals of the University Cup they will be facing a team they have seen plenty of over the years. In fact, the V-Reds have faced off with the Patriotes more often than any other non-conference team, with the two teams meeting 12 times previously. UNB has gone 10-1-1 in those games (including a 3-2 win earlier this season), but we are sure many fans remember that one loss fondly as it occurred in Fredericton and was in the exact same scenario the two teams find themselves in tonight - a Saturday night game at the University Cup with a spot in the finals on the line. The Varsity Reds have exacted some revenge since then though, winning 8 straight games against the Patriotes, including 6-0 and 6-1 decisions in two University Cup meetings since, in 2007 and 2012 respectively.
