Lynes Transfers To Waterloo

The University of Waterloo have announced former Varsity Red forward Luke Lynes will be enrolling in the school's Master of Management Science program as well as suiting up for the Warriors hockey team this fall.

Lynes, a former 4th round draft pick of the Washington Capitals, joined the V-Reds over Christmas during the 2008 - 2009 season. He made an immediate impact with the team, scoring 5 goals and adding 12 assists in 15 games. However, he only played in 39 games over the next three years - notching 9 goals and 13 assists - as he battled concussions. The native of Rochester Hills, Michigan served as an assistant coach for parts of the last few seasons as he battled back from his injury problems.

In joining the Warriors Lynes will be joining a team that appears to be on the rise. The OUA school went 12-11-5 last year before embarking on a magical playoff run that seen them capture the OUA West Championship and earn a spot at the University Cup, their first appearance since 1996. Once there they shocked top-ranked Alberta before being eliminated by eventual silver medalist Saint Marys.
