V-Reds/Huskies: A Playoff History

The #1 seeded University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds will finally be back in action when they host the #5 seeded Saint Mary's Huskies in game 1 of the best-of-5 AUS semi-finals Wednesday night at the AUC.

This will mark the 6th playoff meeting between the two teams since 1973-1974, with UNB winning 3 out of the previous 5 match-ups. The last 3 have taken place in the AUS Finals. Here is the complete breakdown:

1973-1974: SMU defeated UNB 1 game to 0 (7-0)
2002-2003: UNB defeated SMU 2 games to 0 in quarter-finals (2-0, 3-1)
2007-2008: UNB defeated SMU 2 games to 0 in AUS Finals (3-2 OT, 3-2 OT2)
2008-2009: SMU defeated UNB 2 games to 1 in AUS Finals (1-5, 3-2, 5-1)
2012-2013: UNB defeated SMU 2 games to 1 in AUS Finals (1-0 OT2, 2-5, 2-0)

The full series schedule is as follows (all games scheduled for 7 PM):

Game 1: Wednesday, February 26th - SMU at UNB
Game 2: Thursday, February 27th - SMU at UNB
Game 3: Saturday, March 1st - UNB at SMU
Game 4: Sunday, March 2nd - UNB at SMU (if necessary)
Game 5: Tuesday, March 4th - SMU at UNB (if necessary)

The #2 seeded Acadia Axemen and #3 Moncton Aigles Bleus will play in the other semi-final, following the exact same schedule.
