V-Reds Drop Decision To Eagles

UPDATE: The Boston College Athletics website has a game recap posted here, while the fan-site BC Interruption have added their observations here. UNB Athletics have also added a game recap.

The University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds traveled to Boston for a game against perennial NCAA powerhouse Boston College and suffered their first defeat of the season - a 6-4 setback at Conte Forum.

- Scoring for the V-Reds were Matt Petgrave (in the 1st period on the power play from Braes and Brace), Cam Brace (in the 2nd period, shorthanded), Alex Wall (early in the 3rd period on the power play from Peter Trainor and Petgrave), and Adrian Robertson (late in the 3rd period from MacDougall).

- Shots favoured UNB 24-23 and they seemed to hold their own, and perhaps deserved a better fate as they hit a couple of posts, had a goal disallowed, and had a few other great chances while BC scored two goals that could be described as flukey.

- David Shantz played the first two period before giving away to Chris Carozzi for the 3rd.

- BC had period leads of 2-1 and 5-2.

- Cameron Critchlow received a 5 minute major penalty and a game misconduct in the 1st period for hitting from behind.

- The AUS had a pretty good day against NCAA competition as St. FX defeated New Hampshire 2-0 and Acadia beat #15 ranked Quinnipiac 4-1. In other games RPI defeated UPEI 5-2, Boston University manhandled St. Thomas 12-1, and UMass topped Dalhousie 5-2.

- The V-Reds travel to Orono tomorrow for a game against the Maine Black Bears. Game time is scheduled for 5PM AST.
