Huskies Hold Off V-Reds

The visiting Saint Mary's Huskies scored on their first 3 shots of the game and held on for a 4-3 win over the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds tonight at the AUC. The Huskies 4th straight win over the V-Reds moves them into first place with a 9-1-1 record. UNB falls to 2nd place with a 8-2-1 on the year.

The Varsity Reds, who out-shot the visitors 31-13 in the game, received goals from Peter Trainor, Philippe Halley, and Matt Boudens. As usual, Huskies goalie Anthony Peters was the player of the game.

UNB trailed 3-0 after the 1st period and 4-2 after the 2nd period. Bouden's goal got them within a goal with just over 4 minutes remaining but the Huskies clamped down defensively for the rest of the game, not allowing the V-Reds to generate any good scoring chances in the dying minutes.

UNB will look to get back into the win column tomorrow night when the 8-3-0 Acadia Axemen visit the AUC.
