- The 2014-2015 AUS regular season wrapped up last night with a pair of games. UPEI defeated St. Thomas 4-3 in Charlottetown while Acadia scored 2 goals in the final 84 seconds to overcome St. FX 5-4 and clinch 2nd place and a 1st round playoff bye.

The final AUS standings look like this:

UNB                 22-4-2 = 46 points
Acadia              20-5-3 = 43 points
Saint Mary's     20-7-1 = 41 points

Moncton          11-14-3 = 25 points
Dalhousie          7-20-1 = 15 points
St. Thomas        2-22-4 = 8 points

This is the first time in recent memory that we have seen 3 teams each reach the 20 win plateau.

- The AUS released the schedule for the quarter-finals earlier today. Moncton and Saint Mary's get underway Tuesday in Halifax before the series shifts to Moncton for game 2 on Thursday. Game 3, if necessary, is back in Halifax on Saturday night. St. FX and UPEI open on Wednesday in Antigonish before playing game 2 on Friday in Charlottetown and game 3 (if necessary) on Sunday back in Antigonish. All games are slated to begin at 7PM.

- Varsity Reds forward Philippe Maillet held off Acadia's Brett Thompson to claim the AUS scoring title. Maillet's 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists) were just enough to overcome Thompson, who managed 38 points (19 goals, 19 assists) on the season. Maillet, who finished a single point behind the leaders last season, is the first V-Red to win the scoring title since Hunter Tremblay accomplished the feat in 2010-2011.

- The Winter Universiade continued from Granada, Spain yesterday with Team Canada, made up of players from the Canada West conference, rallying from an early 2-0 deficit to defeated Russia 5-3 in their final round robin game. With the win Canada has clinched 1st place in their pool and now await their quarter-final opponent, which will be determined on Tuesday. The quarter-finals will be played on Wednesday.
