News And Notes: Top Ten, Winter Universiade

A few stories of interest before the AUS regular season wraps up this weekend:

- The Varsity Reds moved back up to 2nd in the latest CIS men's hockey Top 10 released on Tuesday. Alberta, who finished the season with a 24-3-1 record, received all 16 1st place votes to remain number one for the 15th time in as many polls this season. The V-Reds picked up every 2nd place vote to jump back ahead of Acadia. The Axemen (3rd), Saint Mary's (5th), and St. FX (11th) were the only other AUS teams to garner votes.

- The Winter Universiade is underway in Granada, Spain and Team Canada, made up of players from the eight Canada West teams, have guaranteed themselves a berth in the quarter-finals thanks to a pair of lopsided victories. On Tuesday they defeated South Korea 11-1 before trouncing Sweden 7-0 earlier today. They will face Russia on Saturday in their final round robin game to determine the winner of Pool B with the quarter-finals slated for Wednesday.
