CIS Top Ten (#8): UNB Drops Two More Spots

For the 3rd consecutive week the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds have dropped down the CIS men's hockey rankings. After holding down the number one spot for three weeks, UNB has slipped from 2nd to 5th to now 7th according to the rankings released yesterday.

The McGill Redmen (14-2-0) took over the #1 ranking for the second time in three weeks after receiving 6 first place votes and 123 total points from media members across the country. The Acadia Axemen (12-2-1) also got 6 first place nods and 121 points to move up to a season-high 2nd place ranking.

Rounding out the top five were the Alberta Golden Bears (12-3-1), Saskatchewan Huskies (13-3-0), and St. FX X-Men (11-2-2).

The only other AUS team to receive votes were the UPEI Panthers, who were ranked 13th in the country.

While the OUA has one week left of conference play before the holiday break the AUS and Canada West  don't resume play until January. The Varsity Reds are back on the ice for a pair of exhibition games at the AUC against the Concordia Stingers on January 2nd and 3rd.
