News and Notes: Top Ten, CIS/World Junior All-Star Game

A few notes from around the CIS:

- The Varsity Reds remained the #7 ranked team in the country in the final CIS men's hockey rankings of 2015, receiving 72 points from media members form across the country.

The Acadia Axemen received 147 points to take over the top ranking for the first time since the 1996-1997 season, becoming the 5th different team this season to reach the top spot in nine polls. It is also the first time since Moncton in 2006-2007 that an AUS team other than UNB has been ranked number one.

McGill (135 points), Alberta (124), Saskatchewan (113), and UQTR (90) made up the rest of the top five.

St. FX (6th - 90 points) and UPEI (14th - 2 points) were the other AUS teams to receive votes.

- The CIS announced their captains for this weekend's all-star game against Team Canada's Junior Team Prospects. Alberta Golden Bears forward Kruise Reddick has been named team captain while Colin Behenna (Waterloo), Olivier Hinse (Concordia), and Stephen MacAulay (Saint Mary's) will serve as the alternates.

- Both games between the CIS All-Stars and Team Canada Junior Team Prospects will be streamed live on the CIS website. The first game is scheduled for this Saturday, December 12th at 8:30 PM AST and the second game goes Sunday at 1 PM AST. Both games will be held at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto.

For those in the area you can pick up tickets for $15 at the door beginning 90 minutes before puck drop.
