Halley Named UNB, AUS Athlete Of The Week

UPDATE: Halley has also been named the CIS male athlete of the week, becoming the first V-Reds hockey player to claim the honour since goaltender David Shantz last January.

UNB forward Philippe Halley has been named both the UNB Varsity Reds/Dominos Pizza male Athlete of the Week and Subway AUS male Athlete of the Week after helping lead the V-Reds to their 6th University Cup in school history this past weekend in Halifax.

The 3rd year native of Quebec City registered a hat-trick in each of UNB's first two games at the tournament - a 5-1 win over Western and a 4-0 victory over Saint Mary's. He then added an assist in a 3-1 win over St. FX in the National Championship game. For his efforts Halley earned MVP of the tournament and was named to the all-tournament team.

Halley's 10 career University Cup goals - in only 6 games - are the most in Varsity Reds history while his 11 points trail only Kyle Bailey, who amassed 13 in 11 games played.
