V-Reds Get Offensive With Latest Recruit

The defending U Sports champion UNB Varsity Reds have announced the addition of high-scoring forward Tyler Boland from the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL.

The 6', 181 pound forward joins the V-Reds on the heels of an exceptional season in which he finished 2nd in the QMJHL in scoring, posting an impressive 48 goals and 55 assists for 103 points. His offensive skill and production will no doubt be a welcome addition to a team that has lost over 50% of their goal output from last season due to graduation and pro opportunities.

In four seasons in the "Q", all with the Oceanic, the native of St. John's, Newfoundland - and cousin of former Red Devil Trevor Boland - scored 97 goals and added 115 assists for 212 points in 246 regular season games before adding another 7 goals and 7 assists in 33 playoff games. He also had an assist in 4 games at the 2015 Memorial Cup.

Boland will attend the Winnipeg Jets rookie camp next month in hopes of earning an invitation to their main camp later in the month.
