News And Notes: Tickets, UCup Trophy, Preview, Dubeau, Willick, Awards Gala

A few notes of interest leading up to the 2018 University Cup:

- For those looking to purchase tickets to the UNB/Concordia game on Thursday night, there were fewer than 600 tickets remaining as of Tuesday morning.

- The University Cup trophy has been renamed in honour of former governor general David Johnston.

- U Sports men's hockey insider Victor Findlay has posted his University Cup preview. Findlay will also have the call all weekend long on Sportsnet along with Jason York and Nikki Reyes.

- Monty Mosher previews the three AUS entries taking part in this year's tournament.

- Goaltender Alex Dubeau has been named the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week. The 3rd year netminder was the AUS playoff MVP after going 5-0 with a 0.940 save percentage. This included making a combined 38 saves in 6-3 and 5-0 victories over St. FX in the AUS Final.

- CBC talks to V-Reds captain Dylan Willick ahead of his final weekend of university hockey.

- CBC also caught up with Mike Thomas about playing in front of a home crowd as well as event co-ordinator Kate Morrison about preparing for this year's tournament.

- Just a reminder the U Sport's men's hockey awards gala takes place tomorrow night - Wednesday, March 14th - at 7:30PM at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center. The event will be headlined by Tara Slone of 'Rogers Hometown Hockey' and sports psychologist Dr. David Scott.
