Eagles Score Early, Often In Rout

Things did not go well for UNB tonight in Boston. The Boston College Eagles scored 18 seconds into the game, added another a minute later, and rolled to a dominating 8-1 win over the University of New Brunswick Reds.

Once again, updates from the UNB Twitter account were severely lacking so we had to follow via other sources. All we know is that BC led 4-0 after a period and 6-1 after two with Christopher Clapperton (Boland, Gatenby) getting the loan goal, on the power play, for UNB. Rylan Parenteau started the game with Alex Dubeau coming in after the two early goals. Shots in the game actually favoured UNB 29-24.

In what has become a bit of a disconcerting early trend, UNB fell behind by multiple goals for the 4th time in 7 games so far this season. The absence of defenceman Randy Gazzola and his steady presence on the blue line is undoubtedly being felt as the defence and goaltending have been shaky at times in the early going.

UNB will look to rebound from their worst loss since a 10-3 drubbing at the hands of St. Thomas on February 10th, 2006 when they host the Moncton Aigles Bleus Friday night back at the AUC. Game time is 7PM.
