U Sports Top Ten (#4): Reds Unanimously #1

The weekly U Sport's men's hockey ranking have been released and once again the University of New Brunswick Reds are the top ranked team in the country, but for the first time this season they take the honour unanimously.

The Reds - who scored road wins over Acadia and Saint Mary's this past weekend to improve to 6-0-0 - picked up all 140 media votes and 130 ELO points for a total of 270. The Alberta Golden Bears are back in 2nd after a one week hiatus with 223 points, flipping spots with the Saskatchewan Huskies (221 points). The Ottawa Gee Gees - the only remaining unbeaten team in the country after UNB - received 171 points to earn their highest ranking since the 2003/2004 season while the Saint Mary's Huskies (143) dropped a spot to 5th after losing their first two games of the season.

The rest of the top ten is made up of the Queen's Gaels (118), Brock Badgers (79), Ryerson Rams (58), Guelph Gryphons (52), and Calgary Dinos (38).

Honourable mention went to the Concordia Stingers (33), St. FX X-Men (32), McGill Redmen (29 points, ending a streak of 37 appearances in the top ten), UBC Thunderbirds (17), and UPEI Panthers (1).

UNB is back on home ice this weekend for a pair of big games. On Friday night they welcome the Acadia Axemen and then the Saint Mary's Huskies are in town on Saturday evening for a top-5 showdown. Game time for both contests is 7PM.
