Rassell Earns Athlete Of The Week Nod

Reds forward Mark Rassell has been named the UNB Reds/Papa John's Pizza male athlete of the week after helping the team to a pair of wins last week.

On Wednesday night the freshman forward chipped in an assist in a 5-3 win in Moncton versus the Aigles Bleus. He followed that up with two goals, including the game winner, on Saturday night against the UPEI Panthers at the AUC.

The former 50 goal scorer out of the WHL has enjoyed an outstanding first year with the Reds, posting 14 goals (5th in the league) and 13 assists in 28 games. He has been particularly strong recently with 10 points in his last 6 games. He also had a hat-trick in December's exhibition win over Lethbridge.

His 27 points this season are tied for 2nd - with teammate Matthew Boucher - among all AUS rookies, only behind Moncton's Maxime St-Cyr (31).

Rassell will look to continue his hot streak this weekend as UNB wraps up the regular season with home games against St. FX on Friday and Dalhousie on Saturday.
