This is obviously very disappointing news for the Reds and their fans as UNB was the odds on favourites to repeat as champions, especially after the #2 seeded Saskatchewan Huskies were upset on Thursday afternoon. The Reds sent out a couple of tweets in wake of the news:
What a heart wrenching way to end the season for a team that worked so hard for this weekend. We are devastated.— UNB Men’s Hockey (@UNBMHockey) March 13, 2020
To our fans, you are incredible. Your support is what drives us.
To the BEST team in the country, thank you for your time, energy & sacrifice. ❤️🖤#TheBandisBack pic.twitter.com/oA5iabx6PS
It still doesn’t feel real the way the season ended. But, if there was one way to end it, it was on home ice in front of the best fans in the Country! And no one can argue that. #andstilldefendingchamps pic.twitter.com/XfMPp0Q5CU— UNB Men’s Hockey (@UNBMHockey) March 14, 2020
