The seedings and quarter-final match-ups for the upcoming 2020 University Cup have been announced and the University of New Brunswick Reds have been deemed the team to beat, entering the tournament as the top seed.
Although many predicted UNB would face the OUA bronze medal-winning Western Mustangs in their first game, the Reds will instead meet the Canada West runner-up, and #8 seeded, University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in their opening game on Friday afternoon. The rest of the schedule looks like this (all times are AST):
THURSDAY, MARCH 12th
2PM - #2 Saskatchewan Huskies vs. #7 Western Mustangs
7PM - #3 Guelph Gryphons vs. #6 Saint Mary's Huskies
FRIDAY, MARCH 13th
2PM - #1 UNB Reds vs #8 UBC Thunderbirds
7PM - #4 Ottawa Gee-Gees vs #5 Acadia Axemen
SATURDAY, MARCH 14th
2PM - Semi-Final #1 (Thursday Winners)
7PM - Semi-Final #2 (Friday Winners)
SUNDAY
2PM - Bronze Medal Game
7PM - Gold Medal Game
Unfortunately, none of the games will be broadcast on television this year. Instead, all games will be streamed live on CBCSports.ca, CBC Gem, and the CBC Sports App.
Tournament passes are now available online. Single game tickets go on sale tomorrow at noon.
