Kelly Cup Returning

The University of New Brunswick Reds will resume their holiday tradition of hosting the Pete Kelly Cup this season with the McGill Redbirds providing the opposition.

The one game winner-take-all format will take place on Thursday, December 30th at 7PM at the AUC.

This will be the 16th event since the first one was held in 2006. The format has undergone a number of changes over the years, but one thing has remained constant - a UNB victory. After failing to capture the inaugural event, the Reds have won each of the last 14.

The meeting between the intra-conference foes is a significant one as it marks the first time an AUS team has played a non-conference game since the 2019 University Cup.

This will be the 15th match-up all-time between the two storied hockey programs with UNB dominating the series, winning 13 out of the previous 14 games. The biggest one, of course, was a 4-0 victory in the 2011 University Cup final at the AUC.
